Towards the future: Action proposals – English

Looking to the future of MIACS and Cardijn Communities.

1) Formalize the existing network of specialized movements and Cardijn communities.

A) It will be called Laikos – (Greek word meaning laity).

B) It will be coordinated by a team formed by a representative of each movement and an alternate. Who will be spokespersons for the linguistic sub-networks.

C) A steering committee consisting by 2 persons elected by the delegates of the movements to ensure the functioning of the coordination.

D) Establishment of linguistic sub-networks (English, Spanish, French, German etc) formed by all existing movements in the linguistic area, to strengthen participation and ensure communication of all members. Each one should have:

-a)  A theological commission and related disciplines to project the path of the movement in the new (local, regional , world) social and ecclesial context and collect the lines of reflection and proposals for action that were discussed at the reflection meeting on the apostolate of the laity in Rome, October -9-13-2024.

-b)  A pastoral commission formed by the chaplains, communities  advisors, that in agreement with the theological commission ensures both the attention to the communities and the members, as well as the recognition and recovery of their reflections and concrete commitments. In this way nourishing the reflection of the theological commission.

-c) A resource commission to ensure the development of financial and administrative strategies to ensure the functioning of the network and the development of the movements.

2) Mapping and Directory of members. Each movement should carry out a mapping and build a directory that allows to know in which places there are movements, how many members participate, their language, their capacities and abilities and thus be able to ensure the organization of the linguistic sub-networks and the proposed commissions. At the same time, to support one to each other’s in the whole world.

3) Establish a common virtual space for the movements = Laikos.info.

4) Establish the day of the apostolate and vocation of the laity on November 18.

– The network will establish the common challenge of each year, so that the communities, through SEE, JUDGE/ACT – deepen their commitment.

– Universal collection day for the lay apostolate movements.
