Cardinal Christophe Pierre was our guest for the opening of the Lay Mission and Vocation Conference.
He has great personal experience with the Specialised Catholic Action movements.
As a young priest in Rennes, France, he was chaplain to the Jeunesse Indépendante Chrétienne, a movement for young people from a business background.
In fact, Cardinal Pierre’s mother was the founder of the JIC in Brittany, and was later involved in the establishment of the adult counterpart movement, Action Catholique Indépendante (ACI).
While studying in Rome, he became familiar with Marie-Louise Monnet, the founder of the JIC and ACI, and Alain Galichon, who were based in Rome with the International Secretariat of the International Movement for the Apostolate of the Independent Milieu (MIAMSI).
