4. Travel and transport
Once you have booked your tickets, please inform us by completing this form:
Villa Lante is in the centre of Rome, about 1km from St Peter’s and Vatican City.
Rome has two airports, Fiumicino and Ciampino.
If you arrive at Fiumicino, you may take the train from the airport into the city, then take local bus, tram transport or alternatively Uber or taxi:
Please use Google Maps to find out the best means of transport to the centre when you arrive.
5. Arrivals and Departures
We do not have any staff in Rome. In fact, we are all volunteers for the organisation of this conference.
So you will need to find your own way to the centre and then back to the airport.
Please ensure that you find out all the details you need BEFORE you arrive in Rome.
Please also inform us of your ARRIVAL time in Rome so we can ensure that there is someone at the centre to welcome you on your arrival.
Villa Lante do not have staff to welcome you either, so you will need to ensure that we are aware of your arrival in Rome.
6. Meals
It is important to know that Villa Lante is NOT a hotel or a retreat house.
They provide BREAKFAST for those of us who are staying there and also technical staff for our conference.
For the rest, each person is fully responsible for his or her own stay, including MIDDAY AND EVENING MEALS.
Please ensure that you budget for this.
The only meal that will be catered for is the Conference Dinner.
7. Payment for lodging
Since people have chosen either individual rooms or twin or triple rooms, we will send you each a specific link in order to pay for your lodgings.
Please note!
We do not have staff or an office in Rome so we CANNOT accept cash payments.
Secondly, all payments must be made PRIOR to arrival in Rome by online payment or direct bank transfer.
We will send you the details for all this.
8. Visas
Each person is responsible to obtain your own visa.
If you require a letter of invitation for the conference, please write to me and I will send you an invitation.
9. Conference Website
All information relating to the conference will also be posted on our website:
https://rome2024.josephcardijn.com
Please familiarise yourself with the website.
If there is any information missing or that you need to know, please write to me and I will add it or answer you directly.
